What is eDiscovery?

Electronic Discovery (eDiscovery) is the process of identifying and examining electronic documents related to a specific matter. eDiscovery is a key part of legal cases, internal investigations, and compliance. But without proper support, eDiscovery requests can be time-consuming and costly.

Bluesource eDiscovery experts work to optimize workflows, implement eDiscovery solutions, and manage the entire eDiscovery process. Teams across any organization can benefit from the support of Bluesource and leading eDiscovery technology.

Understanding EDRM Workflow

Bluesource has solutions for every step of the Electronic Discovery Reference Model (EDRM) workflow.

EDRM released EDRM 2.0 in September 2026. The updates reflect the best practices in eDiscovery. Notably, “Analysis” is now shown as a constant across the entire workflow. “Disposition” is a new step, representing the “systematic, defensible process to retain, delete, transfer, or return data after use.”

The new model groups Identification, Preservation, Collection, and Processing together under Data Acquisition. These stages are no longer shown as separate steps, but as interconnected pieces that set the foundation for eDiscovery.

  • Cost: High costs for manual review, large datasets, and outsourcing data preparation
